Arrival in Spain
I have arrived in Spain and checked into this lovely hotel, the Mediodía. And I have succeeded in getting them to repair the room's air conditioner, not that it's sweltering outside, in fact, it's lovely, about 73 F. But after my trip I was hot and sweaty indeed, and badly in need of some AC.
I chose this hotel because it's very near the neighborhood that Anna and I became familiar with in our visit here in 2019. And the school I'm going to take classes at is also nearby.
The first thing that I'm supposed too do is go to to Plaza Mayor and drink a cafe con leche. Anna says that is her tradition upon arriving in Madrid and I am supposed to carry it on. I am rather exhausted but I'll do it, because I'm also hungry and I can order in Spanish now, thanks to Duolingo.
I could describe the major difficulty, which was making my connection at the Barcelona airport. I got lost, essentially, but it wasn't quite my fault because the connector to the domestic gates, which I had to access, was roped off. I had to walk all over the International terminal where the flight from Philadelphia had arrived to find my way to the single staircase that would deliver me to the first floor where I could make my way to the "A" gates. It took a long time and I was very hot and sweaty at the end of it.
You must be hoping that I don't mention me sweating in every paragraph. I'll try to sweat less and mention it even less. Right, off to the Plaza Mayor.
