I mentioned the Cortes Inglés department store a few weeks ago. The other day I discovered that there is a branch nearby, and I needed to mail my ballot back to San Francisco.
Mail a letter at the department store? If you're old enough, you can remember that this used to be possible at a Macy's, for example. That all stopped by 2000, in the U.S, I guess.
But no sooner had I mailed the letter than I looked up and, across the floor, I saw a barbershop/salon. I had been trying to get a haircut for weeks and suddenly here was the opportunity. And then I bought a blanket.
This stood me in good stead the next morning in class during the usual "What did you do yesterday?" segment. I proclaimed that I had mailed a letter, gotten a haircut, and bought a blanket, all in one place. This stumped even the teacher until I said "El Corte Inglés" and he was like, oh right, yeah.
Other than that, uneventful week, but we're going today to some kind of art gallery? I think? And then in the evening I'm going out of town. So the next entries should be solid.
