Toward the end
Halloween and the days that follow are kind of a big deal here in Madrid, and in Spain. They started with the All Saints Day holiday, which falls on November 1st. Then like many consumer countries they have worked in Halloween for kids and young people.
On Friday night the 28th there were a lot of Halloween parties, it seemed, with a big crowd of mostly young women and girls in costumes lining up on my block at midnight to enter a club. And it just kind of took off from there, until it got to where you could see someone in costume wherever you were.
Then last night was actually Halloween, and there was still partying to be done, as evidenced by the many young people in costume and the noise on the street.
This morning, November 1st, I got up and took the Metro to the main train station, Atocha. On the way I saw the revelers in the picture above. The young man in the green dress fell asleep and was leaning on the guy on the left side of the picture, who wasn't part of their group. The fellow in the red wig, who was part of their group, came over and sat down next to the sleepy one and embraced him so that the kid could sleep on his shoulder.
